3-Day Design Sprint: Building a Unified Interface for Clinic Staff
Overview
I designed the interface of a tablet-based clinic app used by staff at private GP clinics. My approach centred on user empathy, ensuring that clinic staff could operate the app under busy, real-world conditions. I prioritised:
Large, accessible buttons for quick actions (e.g. “Start Consultation”, “Rejoin Queue”) to reduce cognitive load and speed up workflows.
A stage-based layout, aligning each section (Doctors, Upcoming Queues, Missed Queues, and Checkout) with the natural flow of the patient journey, from waiting to consultation to billing.
Visual hierarchy and colour coding to allow instant recognition of patient status and next steps, minimising clicks and decision fatigue.
This clear and structured design helps staff view and manage high volumes of patient data at a glance while supporting real-time updates and queue transitions seamlessly.
